A couple of weeks after Guv Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State used scholarship to 340 indigent trainees of the State Polytechnic, Iwollo, the guv on Thursday gave yet another scholarship to 340 students of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, at the cost of N54.4 million, covering their tuition fees for four years of scholastic studies in all engineering programs of the institution.Gov.
Ugwuanyi revealed the scholarship when delivering the 4th Identified Academic Lecture of the institute, entitled: “The place of good governance in achieving practical science and technology education in Nigeria”.
The governor said that the decision was “in line with our policy of supplying access to education at all levels to all strata of the society in all educational fields of engineering and technology”.
He discussed that the 340 recipients of the scholarships will be spread across the 17 local federal government areas, resulting in 20 students per council.Gov.
Ugwuanyi included that the gesture was “focused on motivating our individuals to do engineering and assistance position the state for quick industrial development”.

He noted that the stated amount(N810 million )omits the earlier sum of N290 million released to the institute for functions of reaccrediting 18 of her academic programs, expressing delight that the entire 18 programs were successfully reaccredited by the National Board for Technical Education(NBTE). “It, therefore, follows that in previous few months, Institute of Management and Innovation, Enugu, got an overall of N1.1 billion, from Enugu State Government as grants, leaving out the regular monthly subvention of N120 million”he said.Earlier in her welcome address, the Chairman of IMT Governing Council, Deaconess Mrs. Ifeoma Nwobodo appreciated the guv and other visitors for beautifying the occasion, saying that the option of the lecture was appropriately picked”
