Rhealyz Africa Empowers Students with Hands-On Recycling Project (Phase 1) Through Girls’ CAP at Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School

In April 2025, Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School, Akure, participated in a transformative recycling initiative under Rhealyz Africa’s Girls’ Capacity Attainment Program (Girls’ CAP). This project provided students with practical skills to creatively address environmental challenges while contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The students repurposed used car tires and plastic bottles filled with sand to create eco-friendly seats for the school’s relaxation center. Led by Rhealyz Africa facilitators, the students were actively involved in every step—from material sorting to assembly and decoration—resulting in durable, sustainable seating.

Over 20 students took part in this hands-on learning experience, gaining a deeper understanding of sustainability and teamwork. “It was fun and empowering to know we can turn waste into something meaningful,” said one student. The tire seats now serve as a symbol of their creativity and commitment to environmental responsibility.

Looking ahead, Rhealyz Africa plans to implement the second phase of the project, which will involve constructing eco-friendly benches made from ecobricks (plastic bottles filled with sand), further enhancing the school’s sustainable development efforts.
